Leader-in-Residence: Career Development (Optional)


Description
The second portion of the modules focus on Career Development and will equip students with the knowledge and tools to develop professionally. These modules will focus on six key aspects of Career Development:

Networking: Students will gain practical techniques and strategies to establish and cultivate meaningful professional relationships, both in-person and online. They will learn how to build rapport, initiate conversations, and maintain connections in various professional settings.

Professional Communication: Students will explore different communication styles and preferences to enhance their interpersonal interactions. They will develop effective communication skills, including active listening, clear and concise messaging, and adapting their communication approach to diverse audiences.

Career Planning and Exploration: Students will engage in self-assessment exercises to identify their strengths, interests, and values, enabling them to set meaningful career goals aligned with their aspirations. They will gain clarity on their career direction and develop strategies for pursuing their chosen path.

Career and Self-Development: Students will identify their transferable skills and learn strategies to develop and showcase them effectively in the professional realm. They will understand the value of lifelong learning, explore opportunities for personal and professional development, and manage their time and priorities to support their career growth.

Job/Internship Search: Students will learn how to craft compelling resumes and cover letters that effectively highlight their qualifications and experiences. They will understand the key elements of a standout application and tailor their materials to specific job or internship opportunities.

Interview Preparation: Students will familiarize themselves with different types of interviews and common interview questions. They will learn effective strategies for preparing and answering interview questions, presenting their qualifications confidently, and leaving a positive impression on potential employers.
